About Freelancer
Based in Melbourne but working with clients the world over, I’m experienced in concept art, visual-development, matte-painting, storyboards and promotional art for the film, television, advertising, themed entertainment and museum/events, and the games industry.
Over 20-years of industry experience. From mid-2005 to early 2016 I resided in Oslo, Norway where I was fortunate to work with some amazing and talented people on a number of award nominated and award-winning Norwegian films and AAA games titles. Along the way I also worked on concepts, key-frames and storyboards for TV commercials, and I’ve illustrated the occasional book-cover.
Since returning to Australia I’ve worked with some leading Australian and International studios in film and experience design.
A professional, client-focused, experienced, versatile and engaged freelance artist with a passion for place-making, problem-solving, and story-telling through visual mediums. I love communicating a story, concept or idea through visuals that excite, engage, and move, and I enjoy being a part of the collaborative effort in bringing an idea or vision to fruition from sketches to production-ready design.

Client Museum of Melbourne / Museums Victoria Year 2023 Contact Andrew Bailey / Spatial Design Manager Project Melbourne Story re-imagining and Our Beautiful Planet I was called upon by my client to envisage a re-imagining of the Museum of Melbourne’s iconic but dated permanent exhibit, ‘Melbourne Story’; moving away from the traditional linear narrative presentation of artifacts and instead developing interlocking nodes representing experiential vignettes that evoke and reflect the maze of laneways that are such a quintessential park of the city. The focus was to be on non-linear interstitial spaces and moving between those though portals the provide imaginative, sometimes irreverent and playful visual, aural and material ruptures between each experience, creating a tapestry that reflects the rich human story of the city. Visitors act- as time-travellers, jumping between places, experiences and moments in time. For the second project I was called upon to produce visual proposals for an entirely new exhibit. The museum is a custodian a rich and diverse collection of specimens. Though the new ‘Our Beautiful Planet’ exhibit, the Museum of Melbourne sought to leverage its impressive collection to communicate the precious and interconnected nature of life. From the central Gallery where specimens reflecting the diversity of life are presented in a traditional way however with augmented overlays, visitors can enter spaces that contain contemporary dioramas that reflect key biomes and provide an immersive, full sensory experience. Through evoking and highlighting the importance of interconnectedness of all life, the Museum sought to be a call-to-action in the visitors, inspiring them to shape a more positive future.
Client P&P Projects for Grupo Vidanta Years 2022 - 2024 Contact Eppo Zeegers and Pascal van Leur Project VidantaWorld Nuevo Vallarta resort (multiple attraction zones) The team at P&P Projects approached me to assist with the concept design and visualisaton for a number of significant attraction and zones in Vidanta’s new and mammoth Nuevo Vallarta resort in the Mexican state of Nayarit. The tasks have been diverse and extensive- sometime working from very cursory briefs and layouts to extensive and detailed masterplans and working everything from rough sketches to detailed visualisation including birdseye-views of zones.
Client Leisure Expert Group for Insomniac Holdings LLC Year 2022 Contact Sander Strick / Design Director Project Electric Daisy Carnival stage design for Kinetic Fields 2023 EDC is North America’s premiere Dance Music Festival, held in Las Vegas and a host of other cities globally. With the theme of Awakening I was called upon to explore preliminary designs for the Kinetic Fields main-stage for the 2023 Festival. The design was explored over a number of rough sketches and iterations. A small sample is shown here. Exploration included how projections and screens may work within the stage design settling upon large vertical screen incorporated into ‘Art-Deco’ towers as seen in in the top right hand design, which closely resembles the final result. My involvement also included contributing to the design of sponsor kiosks for the festival.
Client Leisure Expert Group for Insomniac Holdings LLC and Formula One World Championship Limited Year 2022 Contact Sander Strick / Design Director Project Festival One Welcome Area Early Concept Design for F1 Las Vegas 2023 Based on an early concept and masterplan, my task was to provide a visual exploration of two zones within the Public Welcome area for the inaugural 2023 Las Vegas Formula 1 race. The first concept called for a virtual pit-lane and paddock where representatives of teams could be met and where teams could host events and engagement with the public and with clients and key figures. This showcase zone would be where members of the public could get ‘up-close and personal’ with the cars, with the workings of a pit crew and also experience the thrill and excitement through a virtual glimpse, of the running of a Formula 1 team. Rooftop bars and restaurants hosted by the hatted restaurants along with team meeting spaces were envisaged. The second concept was to depict the F&B zone which stood between the virtual pit-lane and stage area. Here, there would be a wide variety of food and beverage stalls centered around the Formula 1 Fountain and seating square. Within this market, the different flavors take you to every country around the world the Formula 1 carnival travels. I was also tasked with exploring the initial design for the portal or entrance to the Festival One zone.
Concept Design work for a number of projects including a new FEC in Hong Kong for K11 and the theming for two attractions for Gumbaya World, Melbourne.
I was called upon the guys at Accordion to develop storyboards to accompany a pitch for a road-safety commercial pitch for RACQ The concept was premised on a slick car commercial with a telegenic young couple and with sweeping vistas before everything goes horribly wrong as the rains set in.
